The Sheraton Festival Village

Sheraton Festival Village - the heart of Taste Port Douglas – once again comes to life when we celebrate Port Douglas’s rich culinary culture and lifestyle.  

Against an enviable backdrop of Four Mile Beach to one side and resort lagoons on the other, guests will enjoy a day of live cooking demonstrations from some of Australian’s most respected chefs and culinary presenters, food and wine stalls, masterclasses, junior foodies activities, industry talks, pop- up bars by local distillers and brewers, live music and many more activities.

Start your culinary journey via the Sheraton Grand Mirage’s  main entrance. Parking is available on site and at the Sunbird Centre next door.  Taste Port Douglas’ complimentary shuttle will run throughout the day, and you can find  pick-up points via Taste Port Douglas website “Stay & Explore” page.   

This is a family-friendly event and includes dedicated activities for junior foodies. 

Sheraton Festival Village is a cashless event with stalls accepting payment via your personal tap-and-pay Taste Port Douglas wristband. Arrive ready to snack and sip your way through the day by pre-purchasing your festival pass and pre-loading it with festival credit.  Wristband top-up stations are available throughout Sheraton Festival Village and all unused credit can be re-claimed for up to 30 days after the event. 

Pre-purchase is required to guarantee entry, walk-ins are not advised.

The Marriott Bonvoy VIP Lounge is a reserved and private “tropical luxe” space accessible only to VIP Gold Pass holders, guest chefs and key festival VIP partners. It can be found in the Sheraton Festival Village located next to the Music Stage where live music will feature during the day, and Sunset Sounds on Saturday night.

Guests will have opportunities to meet and mingle with guest chefs while enjoying complimentary drinks from the lounge's private bar, as well as gourmet tastes by the Lounge's dedicated chef. Guests will also have a chance to try hourly tastings by featured festival producers.

What to expect at Sheraton Festival Village 2022 

Mixers, Makers and Growers 

New to 2022, Mixers, Makers and Growers celebrates the producers and craftspeople of our industry.  Mixers, Makers and Growers can be found at the entrance of Sheraton Festival Village on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 August from 12 noon to 5pm daily.   

Local and Australian producers, growers, winemakers and merchants, distillers and craftspeople will converge to share their stories and wares.  The space will be co-emceed by Alastair McLeod and Dominique Rizzo with discussions and pop-up demonstrations. 

Tastings and samples are available at all stalls.  Access to and participation in Mixers, Makers and Growers is included in your General Admission ticket to Sheraton Festival Village.

Moffat Main Stage 

Witness Australia's best chefs, live on the Moffat Main Stage, when we roll out non-stop live cooking demos across the weekend.   

All demonstrations are free to watch.  Arrive early to secure a seat to watch your favourite chefs in action.  Access included in your General Admission ticket to Sheraton Festival Village.

The Taste Port Douglas Main Bar 

Conveniently located adjacent to the Moffat Main Stage, the Main Bar features all the festival favourite drinks in one spot, with a variety of seating to keep you close to the entertainment all day long.  

Access is included in your General Admission ticket to Sheraton Festival Village. All beverages can be purchased via cashless system, no free tastings. Bar menu TBC.

Barefoot Beach Bar 

A selection of pop-up bars featuring world renowned and much-loved local brands will line the sandy shores of the Sheraton's "Beach".   

Access to this space is included in your General Admission ticket to Sheraton Festival Village.  All beverages can be purchased via cashless system, no free tastings.

Gourmet Lawn Food Stalls 

A daily changing feast of pop-up food stalls by some of our top guest talent as well as Port Douglas' favourite eateries will operate on the Gourmet Lawn over the two days of Festival Village.

On Saturday 13 August festival guests will enjoy food stalls featuring dishes curated by guest chefs Adam D’Sylva, Alastair McLeod, Dominique Rizzo, Jake Nicolson, Jerry Mai, Massimo Mele, & Raymond Capaldi as well as offerings by some local favourite eateries.

On Sunday 14 August these stalls will be flipped for the "Fat Mango BBQ" where guests chefs Aaron Ward, Ben Williamson, Bente Grysbaek Jake Nicholson, Jerry Mai, Massimo Mele + MC’s Colin Fassnidge & Anthony Puharich bring their flame game to Tropical North Queensland for a celebration of BBQ and BBQ themed menus.

Access to this space is included in your General Admission ticket to Sheraton Festival Village. All food items can be purchased via cashless system, no free tastings. 
 

Junior Foodies program 

A jam-packed program of fun for all our junior guests is available at this years' Taste Port Douglas.  Kids can take part in a cupcake decorating, yoga classes or artist-led art and craft sessions.  Roving Reptiles from the Wildlife Habitat, gardening discussions, face painting and giant lawn games will also feature throughout the day.  

All activities are included in your child’s General Admission ticket, however some require pre-registration to secure a space.  Registration is available upon purchasing your child's ticket to the Sheraton Festival Village.

Sip and Paint

Explore your inner creative at Taste Port Douglas with a guided watercolour painting class with Stephanie Elizabeth Artist.

Set in the Crystal Chapel overlooking Port Douglas' stunning Four Mile Beach, the class includes all materials, expert led lesson, a cheese platter by local Atherton Tablelands Dairy, Gallo and selected wines.  

Tickets to Sip and Paint classes must be purchased in advance, there will be no walk ins available on the day.  Tickets to Sip & Paint classes include a General Admission ticket to the Sheraton Festival Village for the same day of the class.

Taste Port Douglas Masterclass Series 

Learn from industry experts in this two day, hands-on series of informative and fun masterclasses, which cover everything from cocktail making to chardonnay, champagne to caviar, and even how to blend your own cocktails.

Our culinary classroom is located just beyond the "Mixers, Makers and Growers" space in the Sheraton’s Daintree Bar.

Masterclasses will be held at scheduled times on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 August. Masterclasses must be booked in advance, no walk-ins.  All masterclasses include a General Admission ticket to the Sheraton Festival Village for the same day of the class. 

Wolf Lane Distillery Masterclass 

When: Saturday 13 August 2022, 12 noon – 1pm 
Where: Daintree Bar, Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort, Port Douglas 

Wolf Lane Distillery is a craft gin distillery located on the Great Barrier Reef in Cairns, and in this masterclass their team will set you on your way to becoming a gin master as you partake in an informative and educational hands on masterclass. 

During this interactive class, guests will be taught the essentials of cocktail perfection, a twist on cocktail favourites, and then will try your hand with a classmate at curating the perfect cocktail for the Wolf Lane team to judge!

Prize for the best cocktail & charcuterie style snacks provided.

Shaw + Smith Now & Then Chardonnay & Shiraz Masterclass with David LeMire MW  

When: Saturday 13 August 2022, 2pm – 3pm

Join Master of Wine and Shaw + Smith Co-CEO for an expertly guided tasting of Shaw + Smith current and back vintage Chardonnay and Shiraz. 
David LeMire MW is a wine business professional with experience in retail, distribution, and brand management.  

A two year stint in London in the mid 90s gave him a 'eurocentric' palate, which he further developed in Australia in his roles with Negociants Australia, a leading importer of fine wine to Australia. From 2000 – 2007 he was Imports Manager with Negociants Australia, overseeing a portfolio that included many of the great names of Burgundy, including but not limited to Coche Dury, Roulot, Bonneau du Martray, Roumier, and Domaine de la Romanee Conti.

He has run his own consulting business, has a share of a small wine production business, writes regular columns for Australia's Wine Business Magazine, is a wine show judge, and a partner in an Adelaide wine bar, Mother Vine. He was co-convenor of the Australasian Institute of Masters of Wine Educational Seminar from 2008 to 2016.

In 2010 he joined the team at leading Adelaide Hills winery Shaw + Smith as Head of Sales and Marketing, and he was appointed Co-CEO in July 2020.  
Guests to this masterclass are guaranteed unmatchable insights into the Shaw + Smith range of Chardonnay and Shiraz from past to present.
